The $30 Treadmill Workout
By Valerie Waters

Valerie Waters

Want to get a kick-butt, heart thumping cardio workout without going to the gym, or having to spend $3000 on a treadmill? I specialize in fast pace circuits that burn a ton of calories, while sculpting a lean and sexy physique.
Here is a new workout that I created to beat beach body panic and to get you bikini ready in time for Summer. You might be skeptical and wondering how the workout below is going to take the place of a treadmill, but trust me on this one. The combination of these exercises will get your heart rate up and I promise, you will feel this all throughout your body!
All you need are your Valslides and about 8 square feet. You might want to also have a bottle of water, because you're going to get thirsty!!
Take a few minutes to warm up, and then get ready to SWEAT:
Squats - 20 reps
Skater Jumps - 20 reps
Valslide Reverse Lunge - 20 reps (each leg)
Valslide Side Lunge - 20 reps (each leg)
Valslide Tricep Push-Up - 10 reps
Valslide Mountain Climber - 20 reps
Valslide Painful Push Away - 20 reps
Valslide Sliding Crunch - 20 rpes
Do this circuit 3-4 times, with 1-2 minutes rest in between each circuit.

Out-Fit Organizes a  Team for the Ragnar Relay
By Chris Fisher

Scenic Run

Imagine this, you and 11 friends running day and night, relay-style, through some of the most scenic terrain in Southern California. Add in live bands, inside jokes and a mild case of sleep deprivation. The result? Some call it a slumber party without sleep, pillows or deodorant. It's called the Ragnar Relay!

Essentially it is a 12 person team running about 200 miles over the course of 24 hours from Santa Barbara to Dana Point.
Each team member runs three legs ranging for 3-8 miles. Each team is allowed two support vehicles. The first vehicle will drop off the first runner, drive ahead a few miles, cheer the runner on, and provide them with water, snacks, and plenty of love. That vehicle will then drive ahead to the first exchange point to drop off the second runner and pick up the first runner when that leg is complete. They will repeat this pattern for six legs until they hand off to their second vehicle. This leapfrogging pattern will continue all the way to the finish line. Sounds like fun, huh?

Team Out-Fit will be participating in this event since we like to push ourselves to the physical limits, plus it's fun. But most importantly, we are doing this event for Donna. Donna is a 48 yr old single mother from Southern California, raising 3 young daughters and dealing with invasive breast cancer. Donna is being supported in part by The Talbert Family Foundation. TFF is dedicated to providing direct financial support to local families with members suffering from catastrophic illnesses, primarily cancer. TFF locates families that need financial assistance and provides funds without any strings attached through a program they call "TFF Kids". I invite you to please visit Donna's link and I urge you to make a donation. www.talbertfamilyfoundation.org

If you have any questions about The Talbert Family Foundation, please contact Julie Talbert, julie@TalbertFamilyFoundation.org.

Thanks in advance for your support  and cheer us on!

Biking Adventure-Costa Rica

Costa Rica

Where in the world is Out-Fit president Chris Fisher? Well, based on his expression in this photo, not even Chris can answer that question. Let’s just narrow it down to “somewhere in Central America.”

This past month Chris and his brother Mike spent a week mountain biking through the mountains and rainforests of Costa Rica. An adventure not for the faint of heart, highlighted by a treacherous ride through the primary forest reserve in Costa Rica’s Central Pacific region. Technical trails and epic views through a valley of “countless waterfalls” made up the first half of the days’ adventure. As for the second half? Try 6000 feet of relentless single track where the word “gnarly” can only sufficiently describe the easy sections. No problemo. Time for a power bar and a brew? Not just yet. First they had to strap their bikes (and themselves) to horseback in order to make the final climb to the remote hostel situated high on the mountainside. And this was just one of their seven days “in country.”

Asked about the trip, Chris’ response was visceral and immediate, “Incredible. Easily one of the best experiences of my life.” Asked if he’d be back next year, Chris responded with equal passion:

“Not a chance!”
